Scent Bible: Our Favorite Colognes for Men

Whether you’re going for casual street style or a polished business look, the perfect outfit can not only elevate your appearance but can take your confidence and attitude to new heights. In addition to topping off your look with accessories like an amazing scarfbeanie, or a bold watch, there’s another element to ensure that your style is complete from head-to-toe: the right cologne. Not only can the perfect scent give you a boat of confidence, but there’s something primitive about our attraction to the right scent. Some colognes are capable of grabbing our attention and luring us in. The right scent can make a statement, whether you prefer warm, woodsy scents, brighter citrus, or clean fragrances. You may have your tried and true go-to brand, but here are some of our favorite colognes if you’re looking for something new to add to your everyday routine:

Creed Aventus

Perhaps the most iconic of all perfume houses, The House of Creed was born in 1760 when it was commissioned to provide the English Court with custom-tailored clothing, scented leather gloves, and fragrances. The first bottle was made in 1781 when James Creed was asked by King George III to bottle a fragrance after the monarch was enamored with a pair of scented riding gloves. Since then, the brand has represented the pinnacle of luxury scents, with Creed Aventus being the brand’s most celebrated and sought after cologne. ScentHacks.com stated, “...Creed Aventus smells like a masterpiece that can shine with its perfectly blended scent DNA and a strong presence and performance. This scent has really earned its rating of 10/10. It’s not only the best Creed fragrance out there, it’s the best luxury scent you can get period.” The scent features notes of Corsican blackcurrant, Italian bergamot, French apple, and royal pineapple, while birch and patchouli give a smoky finish.

Bleu de Chanel

For those seeking a woodsy scent, Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel cologne is a must-have addition to their arsenal. A distinctly masculine scent, it melds the scents of amber dry cedar, incense, ginger to provide an aromatic woody scent, with bright notes of grapefruit. Experts say that as the user wears it, mint notes and spicy pink pepper undertones are also released, creating a potently addictive scent. Created by Jacques Polge for Chanel in 2010, it has quickly become one of the brand’s best-selling fragrances.

Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica Jazz Club

The right scent can transport you to places, memories, and moments in time. For a sensory trip to a classic jazz club, pick up Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica Jazz Club, which immortalizes the ambiance of a Brooklyn jazz club with notes of musk, vanilla, tonka bean, and vetiver. Tobacco notes evoke the cozy atmosphere and warm scents of hand-crafted cocktails and smoking cigars. If this sounds a little too left-field, just trust us that it smells really, really, really good (and the simple bottle is such a cool design).

Bvlgari Le Gemme

The crown jewel of Bvlgari’s fragrance line, the Le Gemme collection is the brand’s most luxurious collection of curated scents. Created by Master Perfumers Alberto Morillas and Jacques Cavallier, the line was inspired by raw stones and materials. According to Cavallier, he wanted to “take care of the raw materials, and try to customize each one per fragrance. That means, as they are full of natural raw materials, they are more simple. It’s about expressing a more lateral sensuality or masculinity, which makes them more sophisticated.” While the entire collection is amazing, we love the Le Gemme Ambero Eau De Parfum with earth vetiver root and spicy ginger for a warm, woody scent. For a richer, muskier scent opt for the Le Gemme Masculine Falkar Eau De Parfum which features tanned leather notes and agarwood.
